Tricon, the 24th Worldcon, the third and last in Ohio, was held September 1–5, 1966, at the Sheraton-Cleveland. GoH: L. Sprague de Camp. Isaac Asimov was Toastmaster. Co-Chairmen: Ben Jason, Howard DeVore, and Lou Tabakow. Officially jointly hosted by Cleveland, Detroit, and Cincinnati (hence "Tricon").
Among its events was a sneak peak at an upcoming TV show, Star Trek. Based on its scanty mention in con reports, the screening didn’t have a big impact on attendees, but it didn’t occur till 7 p.m. on Monday.
On Sunday, "A Galaxy of Fashion," a fashion show sponsored by Galaxy magazine, featured Karen Anderson, Jean Berman, Judy Blish, Marsha Brown, Julie Jardine, Barbi Johnson, Sheila Kamper, Lois Lavender, Peggy Rae Pavlat, Barbara Silverberg, Maggie Thompson, Robin White and Betsy Wollheim modeling futuristicostumes for which the Worldcon had provided sewing patterns. A Star Trek model brought to the con by Gene Roddenberry to promote the premiere, helped out backstage.
