Norman Shorrock. Art by Eddie Jones, Waldo 1 (1959)

(October 1, 1929 – November 9, 1999)

Norman L. Shorrock, a Liverpool fan, was active in the 1950s. He was a member of the Liverpool Group/LaSFaS (founding treasurer and later chairman), Cheltenham SFC, SFCoL and MAD.

He was on the con committees of Brumcon, Cytricon III, Cytricon IV, and Loncon, where he was the program mastermind.

Shorrock was part of MaD Productions, creating taperas and fannish films, including The March of Slime (1955), which introduced blog the drink.

In a fancy dress presentation at Cytricon II in 1956, reported Eric Jones in Sidereal #4 (June 1956), "Norman Shorrock wore a most weird rig-out which comprised a Davy Crockett hat complete with a powered propeller."

Norman married Ina Shorrock (née Picken, 1928–2021) in 1950. Together (with several others), they were made Knights of St. Fantony in the first ceremony at the Eastercon 1957. They had five children.

For a brief bio by Eric Bentcliffe, see Waldo no. 1 (December 1959), online here.
