The Skylark Award (in full, the Edward E. Smith Memorial Award for Imaginative Fiction) is selected by NESFA and announced during Boskone. It is given to "some person, who, in the opinion of the membership, has contributed significantly to science fiction, both through work in the field and by exemplifying the personal qualities which made the late E. E. "Doc" Smith well-loved by those who knew him." So it is an award for being both a pro and a "good guy".

It was suggested by Fred Pohl, during his GoH speech at Boskone 1, and first awarded at Boskone 2 in 1966.

The trophy consists of a large magnifying glass on a wooden pedestal. (Which is odd, really, since this is a lens from the Lensman series, yet it is named the Skylark.)
