The Ohio Valley Filk Fest, or OVFF for short, is the world's largest filk convention. The first convention in the series was held in 1984 in Cincinnati. The plan was for OVFF to alternate years with another filk convention to be established in a neighboring state, but that second convention lost its hotel and fell through too late for OVFF to be able to plan a 1985 convention. OVFF ran its second convention in 1986 and has run annually since.
All subsequent conventions (starting 1986) have been held in the Columbus area, but the original name has remained. The convention is held in the fall, generally in late October. Each year the convention presents the Pegasus Awards.
