MiSHAP, a Detroit-based local APA, aka the Michigan Society of (Hapless) Amateur Publishers, was founded in January 1975 by Cy Chauvin and Leah Zeldes and lasted at least until 1985. It was a running joke as to whether the H stood for "hapless" or was merely the silent fannish H. Local members were largely drawn from the W3F, and collations took place at club meetings.

MiSHAP gradually became well-known outside Michigan. At its peak, 165-page mailings among 30 members were common. It also acquired a reputation as being a "risque” apa; Joe Wesson's Left Testicle, Larry Downes, Space Pervert (edited and drawn by Randy Bathurst), and a "Best Male Member Buns” contest conducted by Diane Drutowski were among the reasons.

Fl. 1975–85.
