The series of British Filk Conventions don't have a unifying name, and each one is started with a new committee (though they are mostly drawn from a larger continuing group of people), but they have continued regularly each February since 1989.

The names of the conventions have, except for the first (Contabile), involved a play on words on the convention's ordinal number. The convention has retained contabile.org as its domain name in spite of the changing names.

The convention's main concert presents short performances by many different participants. There is a fund which is administered by a continuing group to bring an overseas filker to the British Filk Convention each year. The Sams Awards are issued at the convention, but are administered by a different group of people than either the convention committee or the overseas guest fund.
