Fantasy Times
The fan newszine from 1941 to 1969. Starting in 1946, Fantasy Times (later Science Fiction Times aka SF Times) became a straightforward sf and fantasy newszine containing news, notes and reviews.
In its early days it was more of a genzine that included news, but in its later days was almost exclusively devoted to pro news. The handover from James Taurasi to Sam Moskowitz happened when Taurasi went into the military to serve in World War II. It claimed to be the first photo-offset fanzine in history.
James Blish was its book reviewer around 1956. In the late ’40s, it had an "International Edition" with some Spanish-language content, and from 1959 through the early 1960s, Sture Sedolin published a Swedish edition. Upon its demise, its news-reporting function was effectively taken over by Locus.
In 1949, a Cinvention program book ad listed its publishers, editors and reporters: James V. Taurasi, Ray Van Houten, J. Russell Mars, John Giunta, Arthur Jean Cox, Lester Mayer, Jr., Thomas S. Gardner and Carmela Marceau.
