The 1983 TAFF race to send a North American fan to the UK for Albacon II, the 1983 Eastercon in Glasgow, was four-way, between:
- Avedon Carol (nominators: Malcolm Edwards & Chris Atkinson, Hazel & Dave Langford, Terry Carr, Gary Farber, D. Potter)
- Larry Carmody (nom. Bill & Mary Burns, Teresa Miñambres, Linda Pickersgill, David Stever, James White)
- Grant Canfield (nom. Jim Barker, Harry Bell, Alexis Gilliland, Bill Rotsler, Dan Steffan)
- Taral Wayne (nom. John Berry, Linda Bushyager, Moshe Feder, Marc Schirmeister, Bob Shaw).
Voting ran until December 18, 1982, with the voting fee 50p/$1. Administrators were Stu Shiffman and Kevin Smith.
Candidate | UK vote | North American vote | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Avedon Carol | 34 | 25 | 69 |

Grant Canfield | 7 | 10 | 17 |
Taral Wayne | 2 | 12 | 14 |

Avedon Carol needed 67 votes to win and, just barely, got them on the first round. Only fragments of trip report were published due to the TAFF Wars breaking out.
