The 1946 Retro Hugos were presented August 31, 1996, at LACon III.

- Best Novella: Animal Farm by George Orwell
- Best Novelette: "First Contact" by Murray Leinster
- Best Short Story: "Uncommon Sense" by Hal Clement
- Best Non-Fiction Book Retro Hugo: There were insufficient nominations, so this category did not appear on the final ballot.
- Best Dramatic Presentation: The Picture of Dorian Gray
- Best Professional Editor: John W. Campbell, Jr.
- Best Professional Artist: Virgil Finlay
- Best Original Artwork Retro Hugo: There were insufficient nominations, so this category did not appear on the final ballot.
- Best Semiprozine Retro Hugo: There were insufficient nominations, so this category did not appear on the final ballot.
- Best Fanzine: Voice of the Imagi-Nation ed. by Forrest J Ackerman
- Best Fan Writer: Forrest J Ackerman
- Best Fan Artist: Bill Rotsler
