Mexicon IV was held May 3–6, 1991, at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate, UK. The committee list in progress report #1 does not designate a chair. In common with previous Mexicons there were no guests of honour but rather featured guests: Iain Sinclair, Howard Waldrop and Paul Williams. The newsletter was The Cactus Times as usual.
The convention was originally slated for The Old Swan Hotel (PR#1) but relocated to The Cairn at some point, although The Cairn itself was in liquidation by the time the convention happened.
The programme book lists approximately 300 members.
Sinclair's 1994 novel Radon's Daughters features an event called Flexicon:
Writers, publishers, bookdealers, agenst, and above all, fans. Fans? Too mild a word. Rabids. Enthusiasts with foam around their mouths (constantly recharged ice-buckets of Sol 'Especial').
- Conreport by Dave Langford.
- Conreport by Mick Evans, Brumgroup News 237 (June 1991, p. 6).
