Staplecon was several small conventions held in San Francisco during the War. The first two were organized in 1943 by Forrest J Ackerman at his parents' home on Staples Ave in San Francisco at times when he was home from the Army.

The first was held May 16, 1943 with about a dozen people present, including Harry Honig, Ackerman, Aubrey MacDermott, Lester Anderson, Lou Goldstone and the as-yet unknown Tony Boucher.

The second was held November 21, 1943.

The third Staplecon was organized by Lou Smith and Larry Smith on May 28, 1944 and was held at their home. Nine people attended and put out a one-shot.

From Fancyclopedia 1, ca. 1944
A gathering in May 1943 at the Ackerman's old Staples-av address in Frisco. Despite the dormancy of the Golden Gate Futurians, Frisco area fen appeared in great numbers for it; and not long after, several moved to LA.
