The 1996 Worldcon, and fifth in LA, L.A.con III was held August 29 to September 2 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim Hilton and Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, CA. GoHs: James White (writer), Roger Corman (media), Elsie Wollheim (special). Takumi & Sachiko Shibano were FGoHs. Special Guest Elsie Wollheim died before the convention. (Wollheim was an exception to the rule that Worldcon Special Guests are not Guests of Honor. Connie Willis was Toastmaster. Mike Glyer chaired the convention.
Formed from LA in '96. It awarded the 1946 Retro Hugos and conducted the 1999 Worldcon Site Selection.
