Staplecon 1 was held May 16, 1943, at Forry Ackerman's parent's home on Staples Avenue in San Francisco, CA.
There were about a dozen people present, including Harry Honig, Ackerman (home from the Army), Aubrey MacDermott, Lester Anderson, Lou Goldstone and the as-yet unknown Tony Boucher.
