The Westercon 72 committee won the bidding to hold the 2019 NASFiC in conjunction with Spikecon at the 2019 NASFiC Site Selection conducted by Worldcon 76 in San Jose, the 2018 Worldcon, in San Jose, CA.

Site selection was conducted for Westercon 74 and, because of a non-U.S. Worldcon, the 2020 NASFiC; see 2021 Westercon Site Selection and 2020 NASFiC Site Selection.

There was a Blood Drive in association with the Heinlein Society. The convention's designated charities were ANE: Adopt-A-Native-Elder, which provides support to indigenous elders, and Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida, which is one of the world's largest accredited sanctuaries for exotic cats.
