Ray Schaffer, Jr., a Canton, Ohio fan, who later moved to Hawaii, was a member of FAPA, OMPA, SAPS, and The Cult. He was active beginning in the 1950s and into the 2000s. Schaffer was one of the eager 7th Fandomites whom Harlan Ellison gathered together at the rallying HEcon, although he only attended briefly.

He belonged to the N3F and headed its Manuscript Bureau and Recruiting Bureau.
