Brother Guy J. Consolmagno is an American convention fan and a member of General Technics. As a student at MIT, he was a member of MITSFS in the mid-70s.
Consolmagno has contributed to such fanzines as Argentus. He was an occasional contributor to Apaloosa. He regularly speaks at conventions on scientific topics.
Now a Jesuit brother and a research astronomer and planetary scientist at the Vatican Observatory, he earned a Ph.D. in planetary science in 1978 at the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. He was an invited participant in Scifoo in 2008. He won the 2014 Carl Sagan Medal and gave his prize lecture at Sasquan, the 2015 Worldcon.
On September 18, 2015, it was announced that Pope Francis had appointed Brother Guy to serve as Director of the Vatican Observatory.
