Deborah M. Geisler was a Boston-area conrunning fan who wandered into convention running in thee late 1980s when she inquired of Jim Hudson if Noreascon 3 could use one of her students as an intern. Little did she know that she would lead the Orlando in 2001 and Boston in 2004 Worldcon bids and chair Noreascon 4 in 2004. She worked on numerous other Worldcon committees.

She was a member of NESFA and MCFI and chaired Boskone 36 in 1999. She edited several books for NESFA Press.

Born in Cleveland, Deb earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ohio University and a Ph.D. at Southern Illinois University–Carbondale. She spent three decades teaching at Suffolk University, where she was Associate Professor of Communication and Journalism. She was married to fellow fan Michael Benveniste since October 1991. Deb died at home after a long struggle with lung and heart disease.
