Lunacon 8
Revision as of 10:48, 21 October 2021 by Leah Zeldes Smith (talk | contribs)
Lunacon 8 was held April 24, 1965 (just the afternoon) in the Seven Arts room of the Hotel Edison in Manhattan. Hal Clement was GoH and did a talk on the sciences in science fiction. The chairman was either Frank Dietz or Charlie Brown (sources differ). It had 135 members.
There was a significant amount of art-related programming: Sam and Chris Moskowitz gave a slide show on the art of Hannes Bok, Jack Gaughan followed with well-received discussion of Bok and his technical abilities, and Steve Stiles led a panel that talked about fan art. There was also an editors' panel which included Don Benson (Pyramid), Don Wollheim (Ace), Fred Pohl (Galaxy), and Ted White (F&SF) who discussed the relationship of magazines to paperback books.
