Slogan of the Weapon Shops in A. E. van Vogt's series[1]; cf Article II of the US Bill of Rights. The Weapon Shops held that men always had the sort of government they wanted provided they had some way to prevent outright intimidation by authority; atomic guns from the Weapon Shops provided that way. It is a source of fannish gaglines like "the right to buy women is the right to be free". |
