Plokta was a fanzine edited by Alison Scott, Steve Davies and Dr. Plokta, with the help of others of the UK-based Plokta Cabal: Steven Cain, Marianne Cain, Jonathan Cain, Giulia De Cesare, Flick, Sue Mason and the late George the Cat.

Plokta is a neepish initialism for “Press Lots Of Keys To Abort” — what you do when a recalcitrant computer fails to respond to other methods.

This group also ran the Plokta News Network or PNN, a fan news website, from late 2001 through early 2007, and organized plokta.con, as well as publishing the convention newsletter for Dublin 2019, the 77th Worldcon.

The Plokta News Newt, a printed version of the Plokta News Network, was created so that Alison Scott and other Plokta Cabal members had “something to hand out at the Dead Nurse (the London SF fan meeting) on the first Thursday of the month. It's not identical to the content on the website. Some items are shortened, and others are expanded. Particularly time-dependent items are normally removed, along with overly webby stuff that wouldn't work on paper.” Five issues were distributed in 2001 and 2002.
