Caroline Mullan is a British fan, fanwriter and conrunner who first encountered fandom at Seacon '79, the 1979 Worldcon.
A voracious reader, she was living in Belfast when she first visited the London bookshop Dark They Were and Golden Eyed in 1978. The following year one of the staff told her about Seacon '79 and 'that all the SF books in the world were going to be there'. She paid for a membership on the door and 'By the end of the weekend I had found my home, my fandom and my tribe.' The Seacon '79 souvenir book led her to Albacon 80, the 1980 Eastercon, where she joined the BSFA and met Brian Ameringen, later her partner. She continued to attend conventions including Denvention 2, the 1980 Worldcon, and shortly after Channelcon in 1982 she joined TWP and moved to London.
Her first convention committee was BECCON '83 followed by BECCON '85 and then BECCON '87, the latter also the 1987 Eastercon. Subsequent committee roles include the dealers' room at Intersection, the 1995 Worldcon, part of the programme team for Follycon, the 2018 Eastercon, and chairing Conversation, the 2023 Eastercon. She was a judge of the Arthur C. Clarke Award in 2001 and 2002.
As well as being a long-time member of TWP, she published The Mirror Crack'd, and was part of the team behind The Intermediate Reptile. She has written for other fanzines including Vector and Banana Wings. Claire Brialey and Mark Plummer produced a collection of her fanwriting, Reflections in the Shards for Dysprosium, the 2015 Eastercon.
She lives in London with her partner, Brian Ameringen.
