Belfast has a long history in Fandom, it was here that the hugely influential Irish Fandom of the 1940's and 1950's came to prominence. The city played host to the Belfast Triangle and many famous fans, like Walt Willis, Bob Shaw and James White.
The Queen's University Belfast Science Fiction & Fantasy Society ran Nicons there from 1986 to 1989 and MeCons from 1998 to 2008.
Previously the city has been the venue for two series of conventions
