Andrea “Andi” Shechter was a fan involved in running conventions. She worked on many Boskones, and was a deputy Division Head at Noreascon 3. She started out in fandom attending Star Trek conventions. She chaired the Woodstockcon hoax bid.
She married Alva Rogers, a fan 30 years her senior, in the late ’70s, and lived in the BArea, belonging to Little Men and becoming club chair. She moved to Boston in the 1980s and then to Seattle in the mid-90s with her longtime partner Stu Shiffman. Together since 1988, she and Stu married in 2014.
She was also involved with mystery fandom, and worked on Bouchercon. She chaired the Left Coast Crime conventions in Seattle in 1997 and 2007.
A feminist and disability rights activist, Shechter was a native New Yorker with a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.
