Westercon 33 was held July 3-7, 1980 at the Hyatt House Hotel in Los Angeles. GoH: Roger Zelazny; FGoH: Bob Vardeman. Chaired by Milt Stevens.

The opposition to the LA in '80 bid was Phoenix in '80. See 1980 Westercon Site Selection. The LA committee had planned to use the LA Marriott, the site of Westercone again, but discovered that Doug Wright had signed a 3-year contract with the Marriott which included the 4th of July weekend. They moved next door to the Hyatt.

The Invisible Little Man Award were to Ian Ballantine and Betty Ballantine, and the Sampo Award went to Dave Nee.

Phoenix in '82 won unopposed the right to host the 1982 Westercon, Westercon 35.

There is a short report on the convention in File 770 22, p. 7.
