An American playwright and author of short sf, Martha Soukup was active in Chicago fandom in the 1970s and ’80s, when she attended Thursday, contributed to Windyapa and was part of Moebius Theatre.

She and her partner, Michael Walsh, owned a two-flat in Rogers Park; they rented the top floor to various fannish types and hosted a regular fan poker game on Friday nights.

She attended Clarion in 1985. The 1994 short film Override, directed by Danny Glover, was based on her Hugo-nominated short story "Over the Long Haul." She now lives in San Francisco and has apparently given up writing fiction and gafiated. Her sisters, Cassie and Cally Soukup, were also fans.
