Gary J. Nelson, a BArea fan active in the 1950s, co-chaired the 1954 Worldcon, SFCon, with Les Cole. He was a member of the Little Men.
Nelson held a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and worked for the National Institutes of Health for much of his professional life.
