Surrey Limpwrists

The Surrey Limpwrists were a British club in Surrey founded in 1979 by Alan Dorey. The name was derived in a moment of 1970s political incorrectness from Rob Hansen's mime for Joseph Nicholas during a game of charades at Silicon 3. Dorey initially gave the name to a team of Surrey fans in the convention's five-a-side football tournament but former members of the Newcastle Gannets group now based in the south were keen for a regular local fan-meeting and adopted it.

The group met on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at The Southampton, a pub near Surbiton station. Issues of Ian Maule's Paranoid were first distributed at meetings and the group also spawned SLAPA, the Surrey Limpwrists' APA.
