Group 65
Group 65 was a group of fans in London, UK formed around April 1964 with the intention of making a cine-film. The film, to be called Nightworld, would have been shown at Loncon II, the 1965 Worldcon, but the plan was shelved around February 1965.
Much of the history of the Group and their project is recorded in their newsletter, Monthly Bulletin, edited by Langdon Jones. In its first issue (April 1964) Jones explained an additional, secondary purpose:
Personally, I sincerely hope that we have a good response from London Fandom; not because of the film, alone, but because this will show that the fans of London are willing to co-operate in a group project. It will show that London is capable of becoming once more, a coherent group. My fannish dream at present, is that of a unified London. I hope my dream comes true
By the time of its fifth issue (September 1964) some film had already been shot:
All the shots we took that day were of Pete Taylor running, and considering that for every shot, there were at least three or four run-throughs (runs-through?), one can imagine what Pete looked like at the end of the day.
Skyrack #75 (February 1965) reported that:
Following time lost because of snow, secretary Charles Smith's move to Bury St. Edmunds ... and an accident which laid low director Ivor Mayne, the London cine enthusiasts Group '65, have shelved their Worldcon feature film, Nightworld. There is the possibility of a shorter epic being made for the Worldcon.
It's unknown whether a shorter epic was in fact made but if so it wasn't shown. The assumption is that any footage is lost.
