New Worlds

New Worlds was a UK fanzine edited by Ted Carnell for four issues in 1939. It was the successor to Novae Terrae (which see). Then says:

When NOVAE TERRAE folded in January, Carnell had picked up the reins with NEW WORLDS but had not produced his fanzine as the official organ of the SFA that NOVAE TERRAE had been.

It was at first a monthly, as its predecessor (skipping February), but after the May Third British Convention Carnell announced in the Satellite:

As from the Convention and this column, I am dropping out of the over-active side of fandom and becoming just another London fan. NEW WORLDS will continue to appear, as already stated, quarterly, and I shall of course be present to upset the regular London meetings.

After the War broke out, the fanzine ceased altogether. At the turn of 1939/40 Carnell hoped to go on to produce a new British sf magazine but after some initial meetings the putative publisher went into liquidation. He ultimately created a New Worlds prozine in 1946.
