(???? – )

Irene Carnell, also known as Rene, was a British fan from London active from the 1930s. She was one of four female attendees at the Bombcon gathering on September 20–21, 1941, all described by Ted Carnell in VOM #19 as 'staunch weirdists – maybe they'll get up a section after the war!' As best we know, they never did.

She was married to Ted Carnell and is first mentioned in Novae Terrae #28 from 1938. She occasionally attended fan gatherings during the war years, as when Gus Willmorth visited London fans in 1943, and was at the first post-war convention, the Whitcon in 1948.

While she isn't listed as a member of the 1957 and 1965 Worldcons in London, she was a member of the 1970 Heicon and of Seacon '79. Luna Monthly #38-39 reported that after her husband's death in 1972 she took over the Carnell Literary Agency.
