Mr. Highly Magnified Woggle-Bug, Thoroughly Educated, aka H. M. Woggle-Bug, T.E. (Highly Magnified and Thoroughly Educated), is a character in the Oz books by L. Frank Baum. This drawing by John R. Neill is from The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904), in which he first appears.

(Baum:Tucker/Speer) Jack Speer, from his intellectual and critical interests. Speer took this up enthusiastically when Tuck tagged him with it, tho, being one of the few fen of his generation not brought up on the Oz books, he didn't know its source till recently. It's sort of critical, for the Woggle-Bug, in Baum's stories, was always showing off his knowledge with horrid puns that made bystanders moan and turn green.
From Fancyclopedia 2 Supplement, ca. 1960
Woggle-Bug It wasn't Tucker who called Speer this, but Chauvenet, in FAPA File.
