Lyell Crane was a Toronto fan active in the 1940s and ’50s. With Julian May, he organized the international club SF International in the late 40s. He organized the Riverina Conference in Australia in 1953. He was a member of the N3F, volunteering in its Correspondence Bureau. He sailed to England to attend the Festivention in London in 1951.
He was a civil engineer, and studied Dianetics.
