(February 23, 1911 – August 23, 1968)

Ken McIntyre was a British fan artist who was a regular at British conventions (and whose thirst for Guinness was legendary) and whose art appeared in New Worlds, Nebula, and Science Fantasy. He was made a member of the Order of St. Fantony at Thirdmancon and the Ken McIntyre Award was created in his honour.

First became acquainted with s-f around about 1930, when I acquired a pile of Wonder Stories and Amazings from the old Caledonian Market in King's X[1]. (Since bombed into oblivion) I shall never forget that first thrill, and the wonder of this refreshingly new form of literature... the magic name, Hugo Gernsback, and the hypnotism of Paul's covers, and all those other fascinating artists, Morey, Dold, Wesso, Marchioni, H.V. Brown, and so on, and so I decided that there was nothing I'd like better than to illustrate s-f.

He first encountered fandom at the White Horse in London in 1952. He met Alan Hunter and learned of the Fantasy Art Society 'and to Alan I tender my most sincere gratitude for any success that has come my way.'
