A fan who lived in New York and the Bay Area. Starting in the mid-50s, he published Inside with his wife Cindy Smith. It merged with Science Fiction Advertiser and as Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser, won the 1956 Best Fanzine Hugo (and was nominated again in 1957). Its named changed yet again to Inside Science Fiction before it became moribund in 1958. (It was later resurrected for two issues and then pass on to other hands, ultimately becoming Riverside Quarterly.
He was also responsible for the parody The Magazine of Science Fiction Fantasy and.
In NY, the Smiths lived in Idiot's Castle.
