Nuneaton is a town in the English county of Warwickshire to the east of Birmingham. In fannish terms it's significant for its role in the early days of UK fandom as the home of the 22nd (and third British) chapter of the Science Fiction League. Founded in 1935, its members included Maurice K. Hanson, Dennis Jacques, Maurice T. Crowley, J. E. Barnes and P. W. Buckerfield and, slightly later, D. R. Smith. Their clubzine was Novae Terrae, the first British fanzine. They also published the Bulletin of the Nuneaton Science Fiction League.

When the Science Fiction Association (SFA) was formed in 1937, the Nuneaton group became its second branch. Additional members included J. B. Jepson. Miss D. E. Essam attended a meeting in March 1937 and had she joined she'd have been the SFA's first female member.

The Nuneaton group broke up in August 1937 leaving Smith as the only remaining fan in the town.
