(???? –)

J. E. Barnes was a UK fan from Nuneaton active in the 1930s. He was a member of the Science Fiction League (SFL).

Barnes was a charter member of the Nuneaton branch of the SFL, formed in June 1935. He likely already knew fellow members Maurice T. Crowley and P. W. Buckerfield as they had consecutive SFL membership numbers; Barnes was 926, Crowley 927 and Buckerfield 928. He was a contributor to Novae Terrae while it was the official organ of the Nuneaton SFL branch, but he seemingly didn't join the Science Fiction Association (SFA) along with the other members of the group.
