Westercon 27 was held July 3-7, 1974 at the Francisco Torres in Santa Barbara, CA. GoH: Philip K. Dick; FGoH: Charles Burbee. It was chaired by Fred Patten with Robert Silverberg as toastmaster. Attendance was about 700.
GoH Dick did not attend due to illness. (Bill Rotsler stood in for him and gave a "well-received incomprehensible" speech.) The food at the hotel was reported to be "terrible".
Randall Garrett received the Invisible Little Man Award and Emil Petaja received the Sampo Award.
