A New York area fan and con runner. He was one of the founders of Central Ohio Science Fiction Society. He was a speaker at the Star Trek Conference, the first Star Trek con, in 1969, organized by his wife, Sherna Burley. He had been involved in Worldcon bids, including the New York in '74 bid, the Philadelphia in 1977, and the NY in '86 and the Nieuw Amsterdam in 2004 bids for New York. He was a founder of the BPLF (Beaker People's Libation Front).
