Lyell Crane was an Australian fan from Sydney who lived for a while in Toronto, Canada]] after the Second World War before returning to Australia in May 1952[1]. He was active in the 1940s and '50s. With Julian May, he organized the international club SF International in the late 40s. He organized the Riverina Conference in Australia in 1953. He was a member of the N3F, volunteering in its Correspondence Bureau. He sailed to England to attend the Festivention in London in 1951.

He was a civil engineer, and studied Dianetics.
