NASFiC 5, ConDiego, was held August 31-September 3 (Labor Day weekend), 1990 in San Diego, at the California Omni Hotel and San Diego Convention & Performing Arts Center.
Guests of Honor: Samuel R. Delany (pro), Ben Yalow (fan). Chairman: Albert Lafreniere II. Attendees: 3000.
The convention became a byword for haphazard con-running after fans were handed a typo-riddled Program Book which misspelled the hotel's name, the Guests of Honor's names and even the con's own name as “ConDigeo.” Most fans responded with a ...fannish ... sense of humor. The best, probably, was The Princess Bride-inspired "My name is ConDigeo Montoya. You killed my weekend. Prepare to die!"
