David Kenneth Ritz Van Ronk was a New York fan in the 1950s and ’60s, before the singer became the important figure in the American folk music revival and the Greenwich Village scene dubbed the "Mayor of MacDougal Street."

He was part of the New York Science Fiction Circle and hung out with the fanhabitants of Riverside Dive. He became secretary of the Circle when it reorganized in the wake of NyCon II in 1956 and later attended Fanoclasts meetings. He was a friend of Lee Hoffman’s when she was living in New York.
