The 1959 Best SF or Fantasy Movie Hugo was announced September 7 at Detention. For the first time the modern nominations ballot followed by a final ballot process was followed so we have a list of nominees and no winner, but we do not have the order of finish other than that No Award won first place.

The category was then transformed into Best Dramatic Presentation Hugo, which went on to thrive but mostly on TV series.
