Renee Alper was an Ohio filker and J. R. R. Tolkien fan who founded the Tolkien fanzine Annuminas, Minas Aeron (the Chicago local chapter of the Mythopoeic Society), and the American Hobbit Association. She basically ran all aspects of the American Hobbit Association for 12 years.
She won or placed in the OVFF Songwriting Contest 12 times and was nominated for two Pegasus Awards. She hosted Filkaholics Anonymous at her home in Mason, OH.
