Starting in the mid-50s, he published ''[[Inside]]'' with his wife [[Cindy Smith]]. It merged with ''[[Science Fiction Advertiser]]'' and as ''[[Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser]]'', won the [[1956 Best Fanzine Hugo]] (and was nominated again in 1957). Its named changed yet again to ''[[Inside Science Fiction]]'' before it became moribund in 1958. (It was later resurrected for two issues and then passed on to other hands, ultimately becoming ''[[Riverside Quarterly]]''.

He moved to New York his wife Cindy Smith where they lived for a few years, moving to the Bay Area in 1958, and in the 60s moving to Australia "to escape the threat of nuclear war." It merged with Science Fiction Advertiser and as Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser, won the 1956 Best Fanzine Hugo (and was nominated again in 1957).
