Fannish fandom (also, faanish fandom) refers to the community of fen whose primary fannish interest is fandom itself, fanac for fanac’s sake, rather than the study or promotion of science fiction.
They are largely fanzine fans and fanhistorians, but convention fans, particularly smofs, also qualify. Some can be very sercon in their study of fandom, but most take a lighthearted approach to their fanac.
As Mike Glicksohn put it, "If fandom isn't fun, it's futile."
