“To Serve Man,” a seminal short story by Damon Knight, has the moral: Beware of aliens bearing gifts. The title became a fannish catchphrase and allusion to all such stories.
Often reprinted, Knight’s story first appeared in the November 1950 issue of Galaxy Science Fiction, and was adapted for a 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone.
