(November 17, 1904 – November 13, 1980)

MayBelle Anshutz was a Los Angeles fan, a member of the LASFL, active in the 1930s. This makes her a member of First Fandom, though, sadly, a little remembered one. She was an Esperantist and fanzine letterhack, and a member of the UK’s Science Fiction Association (SFA).

She was listed as one of the “Scientifictionists” supporting the First Worldcon in 1939.

MayBelle Louise Hare Anshutz is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills), Los Angeles. We can’t be certain it’s the same person, but it seems likely.
