Montreal fan René Walling was chair of the 2009 Montreal Worldcon, Anticipation. He was CUFF winner in 1996 and Fan GoH at Arisia '11 in 2011. He has been a translator of sf and a writer for Tor.com.

He compiled several reports on Worldcon membership demographics for James Gunn's Ad Astra:

In 2012, he was the subject of a controversy over events at Readercon 23.
