JoAnn Wood (née Schmidt) was a fan who started the Connecticut Valley SF Society in Hartford, CT, in 1969. She was one of the bidders for 7 in '77 and Hawaii in 1981 and was an early member of NESFA and on the Noreascon 1 committee. A native of Cincinnati, she belonged to the CFG.

She married Chicago fan Ed Wood on December 30, 1966, in Palo Alto, CA, as reported in Degler! 163 (January 6, 1967, p. 2). They lived in California, Connecticut, Milwaukee and Chicago, where they were active for many years in Midwest fandom, before moving to Texas. The Woods had one son, Larry.
