Staplecon 1 was a fan gathering held May 16, 1943, at Forry Ackerman’s parents’ home, 530 Staples Avenue in San Francisco, CA.
There were 14 fans present: Ackerman (home on leave from the Army), Tom Wright, George Ebey, Bill Watson, R. A. Hoffman, Harry Honig, James Kepner, Barbara "Bobby" Wrede, A. M. MacDermott, Lester Anderson, Louis Goldstone, Mike Fern and the as-yet unknown Tony Boucher and his wife, Phyllis P. White.
